Rest in Peace My Sweet Sky

On Saturday, 12/19/09, Sky had to be put to sleep.I miss her and love her so much. We think that she had a tumor. We had x-rays of her taken and her abdomen was enlarged filled with so much fluids that her organs couldn't be seen. She was gaining weight originally, but on Friday she was continuously vomited and not eating much. Friday night she weighed 40g (overweight) and then Sat. afternoon she weighed 36g. I could feel her bones, she was only over weight because of the tumor. She was having a hard time breathing and was uncomfortable and in pain. Having her put down was the hardest decision I never had to make. I didn't want her to suffer and what she had couldn't be cured and wouldn't go away.

Be prepared to be spammed with Sky artwork, letters, and stories. For me this is all part of the grieving process.

Voice Acting Class

Today I took 'Finding Your Voice' at Voicetrax ([link]) I was really nervous because I had no clue what to expect and because of my anxiety. I really enjoyed it though, we learned a few ways to create characters. I heard some great story that really inspire me. I talked to Samantha Pairs at the end of the class to thank her and I told her a bit about my voice acting experience and asked her what would be the best think for me to do next she told me that a private lesson would be good so that they could see where I am, but that I could do the beginning seminar also. Since she's booked with private lessons for the next few months I can take a private lesson with Sirentta Leoni. I think I want that to be my next step. I feel so lucky to be able to have such sucessful and wonderful voice actors and actresses teach me and help me get into the business.

Sky's Pellet Bread

As many people know I don't cook or bake really and I've never gone off and created my own recipe. I got a healthy eating for birds cook book today and it gave me an idea in how to get sky to eat her pellets happily instead of throwing it on the floor to get to the seeds. Birds love bread so why not make bread out of the pellets? I did and this now I have invented Sky's Pellet Bread! For anyone that has the same problem as me with getting their bird to eat healthy feel free to try this out.

Sky's Pellet Bread

Ingredients:

1 cup of Lafber's pellets (get the type of pellet that goes with the type of bird you have)
1 tsp. of baking soda
1/4 cup of water (you'll most likely need to add more though)
Kale
Apple
Banana
Carrot
Broccoli
(use whatever your bird likes or should be eating above is a list of some healthy foods for them)

You'll need a small bowl to mix it in.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees

1. Crush Lafber's pellets into a powder until you have a cup.
2. Add it to the bowl
3. Add the baking soda
4. Add water
5. Mix. Add more water if needed you want it to look kind of doughy.
6. Chop up the Kale, Apple, Banana, Carrot, Broccoli into small pieces (Note: You don't need much of each.)
7. Mix
8. Do not use non-stick pans. To reduce the sticking use cup cake trays and put the paper in them.
9. Put a little bit of the dough in each
10. bake for about 20 minutes
11. Let it cool
12. Let your feathered friend enjoy. It really doesn't taste bad and is safe for humans to eat too.

The past week has been really hard for me. Sky got sick on Saturday, the vet isn't there on the weekends so I had to wait until Mon. I was then told that she's overweight and might have a tumor but it's hard to know without an x-ray. In order to do an x-ray they have to be put under to reduce stress. The chances of her waking up are unknown. I went home to think about it and try to come up with a decision. Then I Tuse. I brought her back. It turns out that Sky's vet wasn't too sure about what she had said the other day and was up at 5 am researching. It turns out that Sky's thyroids are enlarged due to lack of iodine in her diet. We got a prescription for strong iodine and we were told it'd be ready the next day. Soon after bringing Sky back home we get a call saying that my dad was taken to the hospital. I stayed home to watch my sister, while my mom went. They came back after 11 pm and we got the call around 2 pm. It turns out he's fine, dehydrated, but fine. The next day we go to pick up Sky's prescription, they never got it so now we have to wait until Fri. because of Thanksgiving. Anyway we finally got it and now I have tons of homework...

I got a JOB!

I've searching for about a month now and I finally got a job! I'm so excited because I don't think I could have asked for something better.

I'm one of those odd high school students that refuses to settle for a normal job that a high school student would get... No clothing stores, restaurants, or retail for me!

I've been interning at a vet hospital and recently (Wed. I think) a job opened up. We were spaying a cat when I found out. They were talking about when to start the interviews and what questions should be asked. So, I asked what position was open. The part-time Animal Caretaker/Kennel Assistant opened up. Then they immediately asked if I was interested in the job. Of course I said that I was and well now I have the job. It seems that I also saved them from dealing with interviews.

I'm really excited! I'm a few steps closer to my long time dream.
